How the LEKA Warm Roof System Works

The LEKA system uses several specialist layers to combine structural strength, insulation and weather protection without the weight associated with many traditional roofing systems.

Step 1 – GRP Structure

The system begins with a lightweight Glass Reinforced Plastic (GRP) structural ring beam, rafters and ridge.

Unlike traditional timber or aluminium alternatives, GRP is designed to resist moisture absorption and does not suffer from woodworm. Its thermal properties also help minimise thermal bridging.

Step 2 – Internal LEKA Boards

Lightweight LEKA internal sheets are installed beneath the GRP structure.

These waterproof boards are significantly lighter than traditional plasterboard while providing additional thermal benefits. They can be finished with a traditional plaster skim to create a smooth internal ceiling ready for decorating.

Different internal board options are available depending on the chosen LEKA system and project requirements.

Step 3 – High-Performance Insulation

Insulation is fitted within the roof structure to provide excellent thermal efficiency.

Depending on the chosen LEKA specification, different insulation solutions may be used. We'll discuss the most appropriate system for your conservatory as part of the survey and quotation process.

Step 4 – Structural Outer Boards

Strong, lightweight and insulated outer boards are fitted over the roof structure.

These provide additional structural performance, insulation and weather protection while keeping the overall roof system lightweight.

A breathable membrane is then installed over the external boards and integrated with the guttering to provide an additional layer of weather protection.

Step 5 – Lightweight Roof Tiles

The roof is finished with premium lightweight slate-effect or metal roof tiles.
